Foundation Course | 3 accompanying eLearning modules

Please note: This training is available to learners who have completed the CPD Foundation course.

Financial pressure can affect anyone, and it is not always obvious when someone is struggling. Changes in work, income, household costs or personal circumstances can build over time and begin to affect someone at work.

These three short modules build on the CPD Foundation course and give you the opportunity to put your learning into practice through realistic workplace situations.

You’ll follow a simple journey from seeing the wider picture, to starting a supportive conversation, and then helping someone connect with the right support.

The focus is not on judging how someone manages their money, giving financial advice or solving their problems. It is about recognising when financial pressure may be affecting someone, listening without judgement and helping them take an appropriate next step.

Estimated completion time: 30 minutes

What these modules will help you do

Explore how financial pressure can develop when someone’s circumstances change.

You’ll consider how changes in income, work, household costs and family circumstances can combine over time, and how the effects of financial pressure may begin to show at work.

The focus is on understanding the wider picture without judging someone’s financial choices.

Build confidence to approach someone when you think they may be experiencing financial pressure.

You’ll explore how to open a conversation naturally, listen without judgement and avoid questions or advice that could feel intrusive.

You’ll also consider what to do if someone doesn’t want to talk.

Explore how to help someone move towards appropriate financial support without taking responsibility for their situation yourself.

You’ll consider different types of support, how to make signposting clear and useful, and how to help someone take a manageable next step while keeping them in control.

You’ll also explore appropriate follow-up and when further action or escalation may be needed.
